Helmsdale has better public transport links than most places north of Inverness. The X99 bus service follows the A9 and the east coast throughout its route between Inverness and Wick / Thurso (6 buses/day in each direction). The railway route (4 trains/day in each direction) deviates inland to Lairg and again north of Helmsdale. There is a local bus service between Helmsdale and Lairg (3 times/day in each direction).
Helmsdale is also served by a Community Minibus, which operates early morning connection services to Inverness, via Brora. Contact information at http://www.ctonline.org.uk/providers/helmsdale-community-transport-scio/
There is an electric car charging point (Turbo) located in the centre of the village.
